From November to January the monsoon arrives, and Singapore's rain is not drizzle. It's a wall of water, usually in the afternoon, often gone within an hour. The good news: this city was built for it, with covered walkways, underground malls and some of the best indoor attractions in Asia.
The trick is to plan the day around a cluster of indoor places joined by the MRT, so you only need your umbrella between the station and the door.
1Cloud Forest and Flower Dome

The two glass domes at Gardens by the Bay are the best rainy-day attraction in Singapore: a cool, misty indoor mountain with a waterfall, and the world's largest glass greenhouse full of flowers. It almost feels like a holiday from the weather.
Insider tipThe Cloud Forest's waterfall is most dramatic when the mist sprays run, which they do several times a day; check the times at the entrance.
Skip it ifYou've already done them. They're worth one visit each, not a weekly habit.
Cost Paid; combo tickets cover both domes

2ArtScience Museum

The lotus-shaped museum at Marina Bay Sands runs big, changing exhibitions, plus Future World, a permanent digital art space where kids can draw creatures and watch them swim across the walls.
Insider tipGet there through the Marina Bay Sands shoppes, which are connected to Bayfront MRT, and you won't need your umbrella at all.
Skip it ifThe current exhibition isn't your thing. Check what's on before you buy.
Good for Families, couples, art fans

3National Gallery Singapore

Two grand colonial buildings, the old Supreme Court and City Hall, joined into Southeast Asia's biggest collection of modern art. Even if art isn't your thing, the buildings are worth the visit, and the rooftop has views over the Padang.
Insider tipSingaporeans and PRs get free entry to the permanent galleries. Tourists pay, but it's still good value for a rainy afternoon.
Skip it ifYou need constant entertainment. It's a quiet, slow-paced place.
Time needed 2–3 hours
4National Museum of Singapore

The best place to understand how Singapore became Singapore, from fishing village to colony to city-state. The galleries are well designed, and there's usually a good temporary exhibition on as well.
Insider tipStart at the Singapore History Gallery and give it at least an hour. Pair it with lunch around Fort Canning or Bras Basah.
Skip it ifHistory bores you. Head to the ArtScience Museum instead.
Cost Free for Singaporeans and PRs; tourists pay
5Singapore Oceanarium

Opened in 2025 to replace the S.E.A. Aquarium on Sentosa, the Oceanarium is almost entirely indoors and big enough to fill a morning. Watching sharks and rays drift past while it pours outside is very satisfying.
Insider tipBook a timed slot online. On rainy days everyone has the same idea.
Skip it ifYou only have an hour. It deserves at least three.
Getting there Sentosa Express from VivoCity (HarbourFront MRT)
6Dopamine Land at Resorts World Sentosa

A newer multi-sensory "experience" (it opened in January 2026): rooms of light, sound and play built for photos and fun. It's light, silly and completely rain-proof, and you can pair it with the Oceanarium in the same trip.
Insider tipCheck its opening days before you go; it isn't open every day of the week.
Skip it ifYou find Instagram-bait attractions a bit hollow. That's what this is, honestly.
Good for Groups of friends, teens

7Jewel Changi Airport

The only rain you'll want to see today: the Rain Vortex, the world's tallest indoor waterfall. Jewel is fully enclosed, with shops, food and the Canopy Park on top.
Insider tipOn a rainy evening, stay for the light-and-sound show on the waterfall.
Skip it ifIt's a long trip for you just for a mall.
Cost Free to enter
8The Orchard Road underground

Singapore's main shopping street has a secret: a lot of it is connected underground. From Orchard MRT you can walk below ground through ION, Wisma Atria and Ngee Ann City without ever stepping into the rain.
Insider tipUse the underground passes from Orchard MRT, and save your umbrella for the gaps.
Skip it ifYou hate malls. It's air-conditioned shopping, in great quantity.
Good for Shopping, food courts, killing a few hours
9A long, covered hawker lunch

Rain is a perfect excuse to sit for an hour with a pile of hawker dishes. Lau Pa Sat's Victorian cast-iron hall is covered, central and full of choices, and the rain on the roof is half the fun.
Insider tipOrder in rounds: one or two dishes first, then go back for more as the rain carries on.
Skip it ifYou want the cheapest hawker food. Its CBD location means slightly higher prices.

10Mustafa Centre at midnight

Little India's famous department store sells everything from gold to groceries to electronics, and it's open late into the night. A rainy evening getting lost in its packed aisles is a very Singaporean experience.
Insider tipHave dinner first on Syed Alwi Road or Race Course Road, then shop when the rain sets in.
Skip it ifYou hate crowds and narrow aisles. It's a lot.
